Rockstar Energy Drink CEO Buys Scott Storch’s Foreclosed Home

Over the past couple years we touched on the rise and fall of music producer Scott Storch. His Miami home was eventually foreclosed on as part of his financial meltdown. Now Russ Weiner, the CEO of Rockstar Energy drink has announced that he is the new owner of Villa Ferrari, Storch’s former 20,000 square foot home on Palm Island. The mansion has a 100 foot boat dock, 11 bedrooms, 15 bathrooms, 3 guest houses and two pools. Last summer we learned that after Storch declared bankruptcy, SunTrust bank, which held two mortgages worth a combined $7.75 million against the property, bought the property back at auction on for $5.5 million. Storch had bought the home for $10.5 million but it had been listed for $13.9 million. Alex Shay found that SunTrust sold the property to Weiner Russell Trust for $6.75 million. According to Shay the house was, like many homes that have gone through a prolonged foreclosure, not in great shape and that renovation is needed. Still, the price is a bit of a steal for the size and location.

Los Angeles NFL Stadium / Aedas Sport (Via Arch Daily)

Designed by Aedas Sport, the innovative 75,000-seat stadium will be the first LEED-certified building in the NFL and will capture the luxury and drama of the world’s entertainment capital. The project anticipates completion for the 2013 season. Both the NFL and the client, Majestic Realty, are committed to making a progressive statement with this building and are exploring a number of initiatives that will make this the most environmentally progressive stadium in the U.S. Aedas Sport has employed the unique topography of the site to build the stadium into a hillside, reducing the steel structure by 40% and allowing at least two-thirds of the seating bowl to be built on grade.

A significant coup for the architect, developer and owner, this strategy resulted in an US$800m design — US$400m-$500m less than any other recent NFL stadium proposal. An asymmetrical configuration allows all of the suites and VIP areas to be loaded on the west side of the stadium and integrated into the adjacent retail promenade. While primarily for the NFL, this 365 day-a-year entertainment destination can also accommodate soccer, college and high school football, and large concerts. The stadium powers a retail and entertainment destination, offering flexibility with large, interchangeable sponsorship zones for various audiences. Slated to become the NFL’s first LEED compliant stadium, Aedas’ design includes reduced CO2 emissions, recycling initiatives, and — due to the great reduction of steel in the structure — a significant decrease in hazardous environmental effects associated with material manufacturing and transportation.

Pharrell Williams – Talkatplayground.com

Posted by Chris Barclay on Sunday, 10 January, 2010

Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter/producer Pharrell Williams has made history as one of the most successful and prolific entertainers to emerge during the last decade.

Spanning genres, as part of the beat-making duo The Neptunes and the alternative rock trio N.E.R.D, Pharrell has helped A-List pop stars (Britney Spears, Mariah Carey, *NSYNC, Busta Rhymes) sell millions of albums and even earn Grammy Awards for the likes of Justin Timberlake, Nelly, and Usher.

You’d think being one of today’s top music producers would keep him busy but Pharrell has diversified into the design and business worlds too having designed a series of upscale sunglasses and jewelry for Louis Vuitton. He’s also launched the Billionaire Boys Club clothing line, Ice Cream shoe collection and collaborated with skateboard icon Tony Hawk.

Pharrell’s newest ventures include partnering with a company called Bionic Yarn, a 2 year old textile firm based in New York dedicated to developing environmentally sustainable fabrics using recycled plastic bottles.
