This week, we bring you a special edition of the Listening Post. Richard Gizbert sits down with Academy Award-winning director Oliver Stone to talk about his new film ‘South of the Border’ and the surprising role that media, both Latin American and North American play in shaping and reflecting the narrative of South America’s political history.
JEAN-MICHEL BASQUIAT- ‘THE RADIANT CHILD’ DIRECTED by TAMRA DAVIS, was blogged about…in March. Well I really didn’t blog about it, I just posted the trailer….however, the film is out now and Karin & Raoul blogged about it with the info…

…Screenings daily 1:15pm, 3:15pm, 6:00pm, 8:00pm, 10:00pm
This is the trailer, yet it speaks volumes. I recently had a discussion about ideas. You can’t own the idea, just the execution of the idea, which is why I have no idea, if you ask me. If I did or I do, you’ll know as soon as I execute.
OnSmash has an awesome video player…and I know everybody’s been enjoying The Dream latest joint titled “Love King”, waaaaaay before it’s release, and now the visuals. Dude puts in work on this R&B tip, we all know his pen game is strong, but he got a sick hustle all around because him and Tricky Stewart know how to go in on an album as far as new sounds and catchy lyrics. His themes don’t change up much, but it works for him, it’s consistent. One thing I know all us fellas can appreciate is the eye candy. Judging by The Dreams current wifey, I can respect the brothas taste. Good Pick Terius.
Watch and listen as Murdoc pieces together the story of Plastic Beach thus far: Why did he choose Plastic Beach as his new HQ? How did 2D end up on the Island? What really happened at the O2 arena rehearsals? And where is Russel and Noodle? It promises to be quite a treat….
DOPE! The Gorillaz are one of my favorites and every so often, I reminisce about sitting at the old job playing that stupid Go Kart game via their website, until time to clock out. Just thought I’d share that along with this iLL short film.
This reminds me of another “Valentines Day” type joint. I support this film, because these great actors and entertainers are working. It’s as simple as that. I love the fact that they are out there displaying the love for the craft. Surprised to see Nipsey and Sticky in this joint, but I know Mike Epps a keep it funny. I bet they had a ball filming this.
Ronnie Fieg brings together influential bloggers Marcus Troy, Joshua Kissi of Street Etiquette, William Yan, Greg Weinsten of Culture Shoq, and director Jake Davis to redesign and reconstruct classic footwear in the Dominican Republic for Sebago.
The Sebago Nexus Project looks pretty dope. I spotted the info at Antenna Mag but I really think the input of such great bloggers/taste-makers leads to quality product and I can always appreciate the use of social media. Peep the trailer, I will definitely be staying tuned to the creative greatness behind this project. Make sure you check out their respective blogs at William Yan x Culture Shoq x Street Etiquette x Ronnie Fieg x Jake Davis x Marcus Troy even if it’s just for kicks.
I’m late…days, hell months late, but I’m really enjoying these profile interviews by Dee Vazquez, pretty interesting stuff. You should head over to her Vimeo Account and peep game. Only thing I’ve placed on my Vimeo Account is Russell Simmons Unicef footage, LOL, but I will be uploading the new media about a month after summer. Dee does pretty dope Q&A, the format is nice, quiet, and it seems like everyone is genuine in their answers without lacking personality.
This is truly one of the funniest things I’ve seen online this week. Orson Welles was truly one of the greatest, ..the drunk spokesperson in these outtakes made paper behind the scenes directing and acting, but when you think about his spokesperson hustle….Awesomeness.. This is almost as funny as the Barry White Radio Commercial…I have to dig that joint up.
