“Apple has proved to be the most adept software and hardware manufacturer out there in delivering content to consumers in a seamless and very attractive consumer experience. No one’s gotten very rich betting against Steve Jobs—and I don’t want to be the first to do it.” -Edgar Bronfman Jr. via PC.ORG

LOL, so Basically Warner Music Group CEO, Edgar Bronfman Jr,chose to check himself in regards to Apples business model. He forewarned against going for Apples throat, due to the fact that they’re (“runnin this rap shit”-Jay-Z), controlling music sales period, with no subscription model in the beginning, to picking up LALA in aisle 9, they still remain on top because of the software and hardware Apple pushes to the masses. It seems like Itunes on your Iphone or Ipod is the key because they hand in hand, rule the world. Seems to me, if you throw in LALA type technology and WMG’s investment in such, this should extend the third hand, in which they all can skip happily to the bank holding each others.

I think an ITunes subscription service would definitely give the music industry a great lift and add marketing value to artist who are promoted along with their label mates, seeking the push for mass consumption. In it’s simplest form, when I look at the collabs that happen these days it’s so clear that artist are forcing or forced to make it work. It’s no longer about the artistry, or being a fan of the others music because half of these artist don’t really “click”, they just understand what that feature can do for their brand. I think If you place my(artist) music on a site with a subscription service, chances are my (artist) song with Justin Bieber or Drake feature will get my album added to the J.Bieber or Drake fan’s library. For the flat fee, consumption will increase and help the brand. Pandora and Spotify and all them services alike help the music industry at a time where people don’t really want to spend a dime but the consumption is still going strong.

“Apple is not currently a retailer involved in an access or subscription model,” he said. “I’d probably like not to speculate on what Apple’s plans are – it’s really interesting technology that it acquired in the Lala acquisition. That’s a question that Apple management should answer.

“I don’t think Apple’s really that clear to the market (on the subscription suggestion), so I wouldn’t suggest it will not have an impact, but I certainly won’t speculate what kind of impact it will have. -Edgar Bronfman Jr. via PC.ORG

“iTunes now contributes over a quarter of all U.S. music sales – but North American digital music income grew only 1.1 percent through 2009.” -Edgar Bronfman Jr. via PC.ORG

and as far as that Ipad thingy goes…

One Apple invention he’s not yet convinced on – iPad. It will give music “a more visual experience going forward”, but: “To suggest that it will create a new and large revenue stream in the short term is probably more optimistic than I want to be today.” -Edgar Bronfman Jr. via PC.ORG
